CMO Years

Lanna Theological Center

CBS was a 3 year leadership training program offering opportunities for Thai youth to finish a high school degree through adult education while being equipped and empowered to go back to their homes to minister in churches. Under David's leadership CBS merged with Chiang Mai Bible Institute to form Lanna Theological Center, a 4 year church leadership degree program. Graduates of CBS-CBI-LTC are serving in churches and communities through out North Thailand, Burma, and Laos.

Lahu Ministry

Abel and Ruth established the Lahu Christian Churches under the CMO umbrella. Concentrating on Lahu Villages in Chiang Mai Province, Abel has planted 8 churches with over 280 members. As they were establishing churches, Abel and Ruth found that there were many children who had been orphaned through the drug industry. These children were at high risk of being trafficked in the big cities. At best they would grow up without an education and destined to a life of poverty. Abel and Ruth established the Ban Dek Suk Jai Children's Hostel in Chiang Dao District. The orphanage cares for 20 or more youth from toddler to 18 years of age. These at risk children given shelter, protection, food, clothing, and opportunities for education through college.

Youth Development Foundation of Chiang Mai

As the ministries in Thailand increased, there arose the need to provide greater legal presence before the Thai government. Various ministries were needing to expand and purchase property. It was becoming increasingly difficult to obtain missionary work permits and visas. In year 2000 David L, David A, and Abel registered the Youth Development Foundation of Chiang Mai with the Thai government to protect properties, to provide legal accountability of ministry related activities, and a means to obtain work permits and visas for the different ministries registered under the YDF. David A. is currently the Chair of the YDF board and Abel serves as Vice-Chair.
