Our Heritage
1960-1982

Thailand Sustainable Ministries is a new mission organization, but we are not new to missions or to Thailand. Our heritage can be traced back to 1960 when Dr. David Lee and Deloris Filbeck (David's Parents) came to Thailand to translate the Bible into the Lua language.
Dr. David A. Filbeck was born in Bangkok and grew up in Nan and Chiang Mai provinces. Abel was born in a Lahu village in Chiang Mai province. His family were important leaders in the Lahu church.
Over the years the Filbeck and Sairattanyu families became close friends and co-workers. David's father performed the wedding for Abel and Ruth. In 2022 David A. prerfomed the wedding for one of Able and Ruth's sons.
The Filbeck family established Christian Mission to the Orient in the early 1980s. Abel and Ruth joined CMO a few years later. For over 30 years David and Abel have collaborated in different ministries.
